How to keep employees happy and increase productivity

By Vince D

A business is primarily as successful as its management team runs it. Employees are a company’s best asset and if they aren’t treated as such, over the course of time the business will suffer. Chances are the company will be plagued with high turnover and low morale.

When planning business strategy, a good management team always takes the way they treat their employees seriously. When morale is good, employees tend to be more productive and if staff is treated in a respectable and good fashion, they also tend to feel a sense of ownership in the business and will do more in their power to present a good face to the company to help it succeed.

When Sam Walton was alive, he knew exactly how to treat his employees and as a result, Wal-Mart grew and grew. Now that he is gone, you no longer have Wal-mart staff assisting you the way they did when Walton was alive. Walton was known for showing up at a Wal-mart loading dock at 5 AM with doughnuts and coffee and shooting the breeze with the front line. That built loyalty and a happy staff. With him gone, the company is no longer the same and you can really tell the difference.

I think the word flexability is key, lets face it modern life is hard and not everything can be done after work hours. Ever try to get an appointment to get a car repair at night? or see a dentist after 6pm? not easy if your a 9-5 er.
