Obama calls for new beginning between US, Muslims (AP)

AP – Quoting from the Quran for emphasis, President Barack Obama called for a “new beginning between the United States and Muslims” Thursday and said together, they could confront violent extremism across the globe and advance the timeless search for peace in the Middle East.

What I’d like to see is moderate Muslims becoming louder and more vocal about their opposition to terrorism. Right now, the extremists are getting the attention. If more moderate Muslims objected to the violent actions of the extremists, there might be more sympathy toward their religion. But as long as the extremists grab the headlines, Islam will be seen as a religion of hatred and intolerance.
